The Port of Salalah has introduced multimodal service options that provide a viable alternative to rerouting vessels via the Cape of Good Hope, in response to the Red Sea shipping crisis.
The new solutions offer beneficial cargo owners (BCOs) and shipping lines cost-effective and fast alternatives between Asia, the US East Coast and European destinations as no detour from the main East-West shipping routes into the Gulf of Oman is required, saving four to five days.
From Salalah, an overland truck route connects the port to Jeddah, which is in the safer mid-point of the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia and takes approximately four to five days.
