A new container terminal at the Ukrainian Port of Illichivsk is to be developed by APM Terminals, expanding its presence in the fast-growing Black Sea Region. The terminal, which will have capacity for more than 1m teus, is scheduled to be operational by 2011.

APMT to expand at Illichivsk

Located 20 km from Odessa on the western shore of the Black Sea, Illichivsk is a major maritime centre for the Ukraine, the largest and fastest-growing container market on the Black Sea.

“We are delighted to work on a terminal project with our local Ukrainian partners and expect to have the final plans firmed up later this year with a tentative completion date of 2011,” said Klaus Rud Sejling, APM Terminals’ vice president of business development.
